Shirred T-Shirt Makeover

Here is a great idea to jazz up a plain t-shirt, or perhaps one that you've ripped, or has a bad stain. The tutorial, from Made by Lex, shows you how to cut out your original t-shirt and insert this shirred section. You can insert it at the front or the back and it's size and shape is totally up to you. The inserted panel is from a separate piece of material or old shirt, so you can use a contrasting color, or the same one as in the photo below I think it's a great look and a good way to reinvent an old shirt that you perhaps no longer wear or just want to makeover.

Tote Bag Tutorial

In my opinion, one can never have too many tote bags! They're great to take to the grocery store, farmers market, flea market, the library, a day at the beach, a quick trip to the mall, and they will save a bunch of plastic bags going into the trash. Here is one of the prettiest tote bag tutorials I've seen. I'm loving the mix of Kate Spain charms and gathered fabric! The tute can be found at My Patchwork and it's well worth making. The instructions are very well explained, with lots of photos, and the project is actually easier than the end results look, so even a beginner can succeed with this bag!

Eco-Friendly Cloth Diaper Tutorial & Pattern

With my first baby I got suckered into the ease of using disposable diapers, but each time I'd throw a used one in the trash I'd have pangs of guilt. With baby number two just arriving recently I'm having second thoughts and am considering cloth diapers. The fitted cloth diapers in the stores are REALLY expensive so I went on a hunt for a good pattern to make some myself. This tutorial can be found at Omi Creates, and the pattern is courtesy of Ottobre Design. Naomi, from Omi Creates has adjusted the pattern a little, so it seems like it should be a winner! And what's even better, the pattern is available to download and print at home.
